What is the Electronic Waybill in Peru?
Do you know what the Electronic Waybill (Guía de Remisión Electrónica, GRE) is in Peru? The Electronic Waybill (Guía de Remisión Electrónica, GRE) is a digital document that is issued to support and control the transport of products and/or goods from one place to another in Peru. In international trade, it is of utmost importance because it facilitates the process of importing and exporting goods.
From July 1st, 2024, it is mandatory to issue this type of document and send it to the tax authority prior to the transfer of goods. Previously, these documents were issued on paper, making the whole process more difficult and less effective. With digital issuance, errors are reduced, costs are saved, and the process becomes more secure, efficient, and agile.
Key features of the Electronic Waybill
The process begins when companies register in the electronic document issuance system of the tax authority. These companies must have a Digital Certificate to guarantee the authenticity of the document issuance and must use authorized invoicing software for the issuance.
The steps are as follows:
- Issuance of the Electronic Waybill
- Digital signature
- Sending to the tax authority for validation
- Receipt of a voucher with its correct confirmation
- Delivery to the carrier
First, you must determine if your company will be in charge of the transport or if you will contract a third-party carrier, as this will determine who must issue the document. In either case, you must include information on the sender, consignee, goods transported, origin, destination, and details of the carrier.
