The Secretariat of Industry and Commerce has implemented new provisions under Resolution 4/2025, top enhance transparency and clarity in price information for consumers. These upadates aim to improve how prices for products and services are displayed.
How should prices be displayed?
From now on, all prices must be shown in Argentine pesos as the primary currency, with the option to include other currencies in secondary characters. Additionally, sellers must display:
- The final price, including taxes.
- A breakdown of the price without national taxes, accompanied by the appropriate label (except for retail businesses selling products by weight)
To further assist consumers in comparing products, prices must be also displayed per unit of measurement (per kilogram, liter, meter and square and cubic meters). This change ensures greater clarity and informed decision-making.
Digitalisation and sanctions
Recognizing the modernization of commerce, teh resolution allows price to be displayed in both digital and physical formats. This includes application on shelves and lists accessible to the public, ensuring visibility and understanding before purchase.
Most of these provisions took effect the day after the publication. However, the requirement to display prices without taxes will become mandatory on April 1, 2025. The Subsecretariat for Consumer Protection will oversee compliance and impose penalties for non-compliance.
