During last November 132,279 new jobs in the formal sector of the economy were generated, a figure 7.7% higher than in the same period last year, according to the latest data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). This increase was higher in 39,000 jobs that the previous recorded increases in the months of November over the last 10 years, which is also the second largest increase in November in that period.
The change in employment so far in 2015 is 948,160 jobs, similar to the increase reported in the same period last year and 231,878 jobs higher than the average growth reported in the same period of the previous ten years. The growth in employment during the last 12 months remains firm with a rate of 4.1%
The states with the highest annual increase are Baja California Sur and Quintana Roo, with more than 9.0% increase. The annual increase in employment was mainly driven by the agricultural sector with 7.9%, the processing industry with 5.2% and transport and communications with 5.1%.
At November 30, 2015 are registered in the IMSS over 18 million jobs, of which 85.5% are permanent and 14.5% are temporal. In the past 4 years, these percentages have remained relatively constant.
